Frederik B. and Betsy G. Bang papers
The collection includes papers, reprints, and student theses from approximately 1936-1981.
Gene Copeland photograph collection
The collection consists of 112 3x5½" black-and-white photographs of resident or visiting scientists at the MBL. Many of the photos are signed.
James D. Ebert papers
The Ebert scientific papers, dating from 1941 to 2000, are limited to manuscripts, seminar, classroom notes when he was a student and professor, and research notebooks. A few of his awards are included in box 4.
Paul S. Galtsoff papers
Galtsoff’s papers, dating from 1931 to 1968, include photographs, correspondence, and memorabilia from his experience in “Operation Crossroads.” Also among his papers are photographs and material from his book on the history of the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries laboratory in Woods Hole.

Johannes Holtfreter Papers
The materials within The Johannes Holtfreter Papers are from the professional life of Johannes Holtfreter, who was a prominent developmental embryologist in the mid-1900s. Within the collection are series of correspondence, experiment notes, experiment illustrations, photographs, and movie film. This collection documents Dr. Holtfreter’s work with the Spemann-Mangold’s Organizer, his work with amphibian embryo development, and his collaborations with fellow embryologist Viktor Hamburger.
Frank Rattray Lillie papers
The collection, dating from 1894 to 1947, includes materials related to Lillie’s time as director of the Marine Biological Laboratory (1908-1925) and as president of the MBL Corporation (1925-1941). The papers also pertain to the early years of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
Otto Loewi papers
Ruth Sager papers
The Sager papers, dating from 1946 to 1999, includes one 17" x 11" x 3" box and twenty-two 24" x 12" boxes. They contain correspondence, lab notes, class notes, cultures, slides, discs and biographical information. There is also a box containing Sager’s bound reprints.
John W. Saunders Jr. papers
This collection consists of Saunders’s personal correspondence, files on his postdoctoral and graduate students, universities and lecture files, embryo microscopy and miscellaneous microscopy files, course binder materials, and other miscellaneous files pertaining to his research and education from 1941 to 2002.
